Our Mission: All Boston Public School graduates are ready for the AI-enabled work and education of the future.
The Initiative
A landmark public-private partnership
On March 26, 2026, Mayor Michelle Wu, BPS Superintendent Mary Skipper, and Paul English announced a landmark $1 million public-private partnership that is making Boston a national model for AI literacy in public education.
The initiative launches across Boston Public Schools high schools and expands districtwide. It includes teacher training, industry-informed curriculum developed with UMass Boston, student hackathons, internships, and career pathways.
On Responsible AI
Holistic, ethical, human-centered
Our approach is holistic. Students learn to use AI productively, ethically, and safely. Understanding both its potential and its risks is part of the curriculum. Every student deserves a dignified future grounded in human connection, not just technical skill.
"Boston has long been a hub for technology and innovation - and that legacy comes with a responsibility to lead as new tools emerge. Local governments must set the frameworks to shape the use and impacts of these technologies for the protection and benefit of our communities."Mayor Michelle Wu · City of Boston
"As artificial intelligence continues to shape how we learn, work, and connect, it is so important that all of our students have access to the knowledge and real-world experiences that will open doors for them."Superintendent Mary Skipper · Boston Public Schools
"This initiative will not only transform educational and career opportunities for BPS students. It will also accelerate AI adoption across all Boston businesses as they hire students with AI experience."Paul English · Co-Chair, Boston Public AI Advisory Board
